Aaah, those were the days. Found this picture in a 1974 B&K application note.

As a student I used to work for a hifi dealer in the weekends and it all looked very similar. Minus the test gear that is.
I think the B&K setup in the picture was more expensive than all of the gear in that showroom. At the time one could only dream of owning such a lab.
