philips cd101
My intention was to keep this early CD player (the cd100 came first) but there no point in it since the laser unit is gone and I have no intention of spending any money on it. The cd101 was an update from the cd100 and came on the market in 1984.
It's a top loader
There is a led bar with 15 leds, 15 tracks was considered enough at the time.
The user interface was very clever, you could either store a selection or delete unwanted tracks.
Rear view, nothing special here, only the output jacks and a large cooling fin.
Lifting the hood.
The circuit board. These early models had only a 14 bit DAC.
The CD mechanism used a swinging arm design unlike the japanese players.
Button and led board.
What would become of us without youtube...
Operation of the cd101 was identical to the cd100.
This guy has the better sansui gear I mentioned in a previous post.
