musicpal repair
I wanted to clean the knobs of my musicpal as the rubbery coating got really sticky. The knobs do not come off easy and unfortunately I broke one of the little pins in the shafts that clip in the rotary encoders. The thing is unusable without the knob buttons so a repair was at hand.
Obviously mounting a switch somewhere would solve the problem. There is plenty of space in the speaker compartment, I decided to mount a momentary toggle switch on the side.
The most difficult thing proved to be removing the front panel; One has to be careful not to break the clips on the right of the front panel.
The rest is easy, in the background you can see the jack socket I added to connect an external speaker. That internal speaker is really horrible.
Luckily the switch contacts are not under the encoder. The black shaft clips in the encoder body, when lifting the knobs it is better not to tear the shafts out.
Another gadget saved from the scrapyard.
