strange design
I had a sony surround receiver in for repair this weekend. I have seen a lot but I've never seen a strange mechanical construction like this. (the lower board slopes down while the heatsink doesn't)
Fortunately it was only a broken regulator on the upper board which is no surprise when you see how brown the circuit board is. After replacement I found the temperature of the cooling fin to measure 85 degrees (Celcius).
This decoupling capacitor didn't look too happy either.
