I don't watch television very often (I lived 20 years without) but I like to watch a movie now and then so a beamer for the studio seemed like a good idea. Beside those two 'organ pipes' beg for projection..
The little tables are (dirt cheap) IKEA coffee tables. I also couldn't resist the resistor shaped shelf.
The multimedia setup is very minimal (I hate stacks of equipment, been there, done that...), the speakers are active so there is only need for a 'preamp' for the audio.
Other than that there is only a notebook and the digital TV settop box. Both are connected to the beamer. There is no need for surround, it's not worth the trouble, if I want surround I go to the movie theatre.
For the DIY enthousiasts: simple preamp, iboy.
